Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: The state government will soon invite expression of interest (EoI) from private and government agencies to felicitate the launch of the e-evaluation system for Plus II examinations.
The higher education department had sought the help of the information technology (IT) department to sort out modalities for e-evaluation, the agency to be picked up for the job and conditions to be laid out before obtaining EoI from the agency concerned, sources said. The IT department recently submitted its suggestions.
“The IT department has recently submitted the file. We have prepared a draft EoI and very soon EoI will be invited to felicitate the launch of the system,” said an official familiar with the development.
The government is striving to implement e-evaluation from the current academic session. As it is a time-consuming process, it may be implemented only on a pilot basis this year, the official informed.
The answer sheets are scanned and put on screen for evaluation. Teachers would then evaluate the papers online, doing away with the present system of manual evaluation.
A few days ago, higher education minister Pradeep Panigrahy had said the system will be implemented from the forthcoming examination scheduled to begin March 2.
The government had decided to adopt the online system considering that the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) had come in for heavy criticism for the poor and faulty evaluation of Plus II papers of around 3.25 lakh students last year. However, manual evaluation of the papers this year is going to be tough as the number of students appearing for the annual examination has gone up by as much as 75,000.
