Bhubaneswar, August 10: Facebook in collaboration with the MSME Department and Project Mission Shakti organised a Digital literary workshop titled ‘SheMeansBusiness’ for women entrepreneurs at a private hotel in Bhubaneswar Thursday. The woman entrepreneurs who participated in the workshop were taught about growing their businesses online. Under this program more than 25,000 entrepreneurs of the state would be given training in the next one year. The workshop was attended by more than 1,100 entrepreneurs from across the state. On the occasion Chief minister Naveen Patnaik, Rajat Arora Policy Manager Facebook South Asia, Subrato Bagchi chairman of Orissa Skill development Authority, Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi, Development commissioner R Balakrishnan, Additional commissioner LN Gupta, Commissioner cum Director Mission Shakti Sujata Kartikeyan were present. Speaking on the occasion Chief minister Naveen Patnaik said, “The main focus of the workshop is to empower women entrepreneurs which will help them in growing their business and market. The partnership with the Facebook is aimed at reducing the digital divide and empowers more and more entrepreneurs and Self Help Groups (SHG’s) over the next one year.” He stressed on the use of three T’sTechnologies, Teamwork and Transparency to bring about transformation in the lives of our people. LN Gupta, Additional chief secretary said, “In the July 25th meeting with the Facebook, we had decided to start this program and after this workshop they will organise several workshop in various districts in the state for the women entrepreneurs. Through Facebook’s SheMeansBusiness we hope to inspire more women across the state to take a leap and develop the enterprise. Sujata Kartikeyan Commissioner Cum director Mission Shakhti said, “Its projects like these that have resulted in more women getting to have a say in the household and more than 63 percent of them have their own land. The SHG’s groups formed under the Mission Shakti in all blocks play active role in taking up social issues like prevention of malnutrition and prohibition of child marriage. Lily Sahu a dress maker from Begunia in Khurda said, “The workshop would be helpful if we will have access to the internet continuously. How are we suppose to get regular access to internet facilities is still unclear? Raising critically a few questions, Ambujakshee Patnaik chairperson of Kalyani foundation said, “The full digitalization in rural area is a long way to go. Many rural area women don’t have decent phone facilities itself.
