Sundargarh: A 60-year-old woman died Sunday morning after being punched by her son during a quarrel at Bandhapali village near Duduka under Hemgiri police limits in Sundargarh district, Sunday.
The victim was identified as Shaila Dhurua in the village.
Police arrested her son, 42-year-old Balindra Dhurua, and registered a murder case (416/25) at Hemgiri police station.
Police said that an argument broke out between Shaila and her son over a domestic matter. In a fit of rage, Balindra allegedly struck her, causing her to collapse and sustain a severe head injury.
Balindra immediately took her to the Hemgiri community health centre, where doctors declared her dead during treatment.
Police handed over the body to the family members after conducting a post-mortem.
