Rayagada: A local court handed down one year’s imprisonment to a man after his son testified against him in court.
The convict was identified as Jama Praska of Prarthibeda under Kalyansinghpur police limits in Rayagada. His son Manoj Praska appeared in the court and recorded his statement, accusing his father of threatening to kill the villagers.
SDJM (First Class) Barsha Das pronounced the verdict Saturday. The case dates back to July 27, 2025, when villagers filed a complaint at Kalyansinghpur PS alleging that Praska had abused, assaulted and threatened to kill several residents.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched a probe.
After the probe, the police arrested Praska and produced him in court. During the trial, the judge recorded the statements of 14 witnesses, including Praska’s son, Manoj Praska.
