Bhubaneswar: A high-level coordination meeting of the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Commissionerate police was held Tuesday at the Police Seva Bhawan Conference Hall to review security, traffic, and administrative arrangements for the T20 International Cricket Match between India and South Africa December 9 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack.
The meeting was chaired by Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh, along with Addl. CP Narasingha Bhol, DCP Bhubaneswar Jagmohan Meena, DCP Headquarters Suresh Chandra Patra, DCP Traffic Tapan Kumar Mohanty, and other senior officers.
Representatives from stakeholder agencies, including the Sports & Youth Services department, Airport Authority, Fire service, Capital Hospital, Hotel Mayfair, CISF, and the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), also participated, pledging full cooperation for the safe and successful conduct of the match.
Senior officials discussed security arrangements at Biju Patnaik International Airport for the teams’ arrival and departure, as well as their stay at Hotel Mayfair.
Detailed plans for en-route security, VIP movement, and designated ‘Fan Zones’ were finalised, and traffic and route-lining from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the stadium for practice sessions and match day were approved.
Traffic advisories for spectators and the public will be issued soon. Officials reviewed challenges from previous international matches to ensure smoother management this time.
For the large turnout expected, STU, OSAF, ODRAF, Fire Service, and BDDS teams will be deployed at all sensitive points.
Anti-sabotage measures, including metal detectors, CCTV surveillance, and continuous monitoring of suspicious activity, were emphasised, along with medical preparedness through static response teams, ambulances, and fire tenders.
Logistics support, including barricades, walkie-talkies, PA systems, and drinking water facilities, will also be provided for seamless operations.
