Padmapur, Jan 24: Jawans of a security camp at Baratunda under this sub-division of Bargarh district looted passengers after assaulting them.
A victim narrated his ordeal in writing to mediapersons Saturday.
Sk Jahir Akrur, a resident of the locality, was going to Raipur to sell water gourd in a pick-up van January 21. A group of jawans waylaid the vehicle and beat up Akrur and the vehicle driver severely. The jawans also forced them to do 500 sit-ups and snatched `50,000 from their possession.
The duo later lodged a complaint with the Paikmal police who asked them to lodge the complaint with Padmapur police. Akrur lodged a complaint with the police here and apprised the higher-ups of the matter.
