Jharsuguda: Police arrested four people, including a cash executive of Radiant Cash Management Services Ltd., for allegedly staging a fake robbery to misappropriate money collected from customers in Jharsuguda district, officials said Saturday.
Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra said during a press conference that Pinku Suna, alias Sana, 33, was responsible for collecting cash from customers and depositing it in a bank. Suna allegedly collected Rs 5,38,697 August 18, but did not deposit the money.
Police also found that Rs 3,59,447 collected earlier had not been deposited. When questioned by company officials, Suna allegedly claimed that unidentified miscreants had robbed him of more than Rs 5.38 lakh near a showroom at Badamal.
The company lodged a complaint with Badamal police after finding inconsistencies in his account and raising concerns over the earlier outstanding amount. Police formed three teams under the supervision of the SP and examined CCTV footage and other scientific evidence.
The investigation reportedly revealed that the robbery was fabricated as part of a pre-planned conspiracy. Police said Suna had handed over the collected cash to his associates before concocting the robbery story.
The other accused were identified as Manoj Nanda, 22, Ravi Suna, 29, and Anand Tandia, 35, all from Sundaragada district. Police recovered Rs 4,89,700 in cash, five mobile phones and two motorcycles from the accused.
A case (297/2026) has been registered at Badamal police station. Further investigation is underway, and all four accused were produced in court Saturday.
