Bhubaneswar: A total of 212 vehicles were seized in drunken driving cases during a special drive in Bhubaneswar and Kataka, officials said Thursday.
The drive was conducted Wednesday night on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Vinaytosh Mishra, and 336 newly inducted sub-inspectors were deployed.
In Bhubaneswar, 122 drunken driving cases were registered, and as many vehicles were seized, including 49 four-wheelers, 65 two-wheelers and eight three-wheelers, an official statement said.
Similarly, 90 drunken driving cases were registered in Cuttack and all 90 vehicles, including 21 four-wheelers and 69 two-wheelers, were seized, it said.
The drive focused on detecting illegal arms and liquor, narcotics, and preventing drunken driving and other traffic violations, besides intensifying night patrolling and checking.
