Bhubaneswar: With passenger traffic expected to surge during the upcoming Durga Puja and Diwali festive season, additional Puja Special trains will be operated on key routes to accommodate the rush and ensure smoother travel for passengers. Railways will introduce special services between Puri and Santragachi, as well as between Shalimar and Khordha Road, during the festive period. The Puri–Santragachi Puja Special (Train No. 08405) will operate every Monday from October 5 to October 26, 2026.
The corresponding Santragachi–Puri Puja Special (Train No. 08406) will run every Tuesday from October 6 to October 27, 2026. Train No. 08405 will depart Puri at 5:45 pm and reach Santragachi at 3:45 am the following day. In the return direction, Train No. 08406 will leave Santragachi at 8:45 am and arrive at Puri at 7:00 pm. The service will stop at Sakhigopal, Khordha Road, Bhubaneswar, Kataka, Jajpur Kendujhar Road, Bhadrak, Baleshwar, Rupsa, Jaleswar, Belda and Kharagpur. The train will consist of 18 LHB coaches.
Another special service, the Shalimar–Khurda Road Puja Special (Train No. 08043), will operate every Monday from Oc tober 12 to November 9, 2026. Its return service, the Khurda Road–Shalimar Puja Special (Train No. 08044), will run every Tuesday from October 13 to November 10, 2026.
