Bhubaneswar: Silicon Valley-based high-technology firm FarmX has submitted a proposal to the Odisha government to establish an advanced manufacturing and export hub for autonomous electric tractors, AI software, robotics, and intelligent farm systems in the state, a senior minister said Sunday.
Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo, who is also the Agriculture minister, said the company would invest Rs 1,000 crore in the proposed project, which will create direct employment for 1,120 people and 3,700 indirect jobs in specialised tech fields.
Singh Deo said the proposed project aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 1,000 autonomous electric tractors and 1 lakh field-sensing units for domestic and international markets.
Highlighting the state’s vision for deep-technology adoption, he said that Odisha is actively attracting global innovators across artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and electric mobility to empower local youth with high-skilled jobs and boost agricultural productivity.
The proposed project integrates a state-of-the-art manufacturing campus with a smart precision farming initiative.
