Chandbali: The state government has suspended Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer Sanjib Kumar Mohapatra, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Chandbali in Bhadrak district. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department issued an order Wednesday stating that departmental disciplinary proceedings are under way against Mohapatra.
As per the order, he will remain at the Bhadrak District Collector’s Office during his suspension and cannot leave the headquarters without the prior permission of the District Collector. He will be entitled to subsistence allowance during the suspension period as per rules.
Although the order confirms that departmental disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Mohapatra, it does not specify the charges or allegations against him. The government order does not make clear the exact reason for his suspension.
The suspension has triggered strong reactions in the area. Residents said the BDO was not directly responsible for flood management and questioned the action against him. They said suspending an officer without stating a clear reason has raised questions about the administrative decision.
