Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet Tuesday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government and thanking him for his contribution to the state’s growth and progress, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said.
Addressing a press conference after chairing the Cabinet meeting at the Lok Seva Bhawan here, Majhi said the Cabinet on the day passed 16 proposals, including the resolution on Modi.
Modi last week completed a 25-year journey of public service that started October 7, 2001 as the CM of Gujarat and continued as the Prime Minister from May 13, 2014.
“In the last two years, Modi ji has visited Odisha at least eight times and guided the state on the path of development and prosperity. Odisha is in the focus of the Prime Minister’s ‘purvadoya’ vision, for which the state has received maximum importance ever since Modi ji became Prime Minister of India May 26, 2014,” Majhi said.
He also described Modi’s dedication to the nation as “unparalleled”.
The chief minister asserted that India had achieved progress and recognition across the world in all spheres and was moving towards becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047 and becoming a “Viswa Guru”.
“There has been a marked difference between India before 2014 and the present India under the leadership of Modi,” he said, adding that Odisha had benefited in many ways from having a ‘double engine’ government.
Majhi claimed that Modi understands the miseries of the poor as he hails from a humble family.
During his 12-year tenure as Prime Minister, as many as 25 crore people had risen above the poverty line (BPL), the CM said.
Modi’s vision of “antyoday” (the man on the last line) has been a boon for the poor and backward people across the country, he said.
