Lahore (Pakistan): Fast bowler Haris Rauf was fined 20 per cent of his match fee Wednesday and handed an official reprimand for breaching the ICC code of conduct during Pakistan’s epic one-wicket win over England in the ODI cricket tri-series tournament.
All-rounder Shadab Khan scored a scintillating unbeaten 113 Sunday and left England stunned by adding 89 runs for the last wicket with Rauf to seal Pakistan’s place in Saturday’s final.
The ICC said in a statement that Rauf had breached article 2.2 of its code of conduct for players, which relates to displaying conduct contrary to the spirit of the game.
Rauf, standing at the non-striker’s end, appealed for a wide before arguing with England all-rounder Will Jacks during the 46th over of Pakistan’s run chase.
Rauf also raised his bat and continued the exchange despite warnings from umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid. The Pakistan player also brushed past the official while walking towards Jacks.
One demerit point was added to Rauf’s disciplinary record. It was the fast bowler’s third offence within a 24-month period, and his points total has increased to five.
England, which had its hopes of reaching the final ended after Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets Tuesday, was fined 15 percent of its match fee after being three overs short of the target.
England is looking for a consolation win against Sri Lanka in the last league game Thursday.
