Bhubaneswar: The state government is likely to announce input subsidy for the farmers by unseasonal rain Monday, highly placed official sources informed.
The government had asked the collectors to submit the crop damage reports by November 25. However, all districts have not submitted the reports so far.
“Out of 30 districts, we have received crop damage reports from 23 districts, while Nuapada, Malkangiri, Sonepur and Jharsuguda districts have intimated over phone that crop loss in their districts is nil,” an official in the office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) said here Sunday.
Districts of collectors of remaining three districts–Ganjam, Puri and Rayagada have been reminded to send crop loss report due to unseasonal cyclonic rain by 8 am tomorrow, the official said.
“Soon after receiving the crop damage reports from the rest of the three districts, the government will announce compensation for the affected farmers,” he added.
Sources also indicated that government may announce input subsidy for the affected farmers Monday only.

As per rainfall reports, not a single block has recorded the amount of rainfall required to qualify to get compensation as per the Orissa Relief Code. Therefore, the government has now decided to compensate the affected farmers by describing it an impact of cyclonic circulation.
The farmers, who sustained crop loss of 33 per cent and above due to the unseasonal rain would get input subsidy. Such farmers would get `6,800 per hectare of land in rainfed/non-irrigated areas and `13,500 per hectare for areas under assured irrigation area.
