Bhubaneswar: Shreyam Sharma of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Rourkela, was adjudged the second ‘Youth Prime Minister of Orissa’ (from among five finalists) at the grand finale of Talent Olympiad held at the Press Club of Orissa, Sunday. The event was organised by Heritage Vision Social Foundation (HVSF), the social wing of Heritage Vision Education Trust. Shreyam received cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a trophy. The Class X student impressed judges with a six-minute speech covering demonetisation, GST
and two other topics and secured himself a spot among the top five.
Speaking with Orissa POST, Shreyam said, “I am very happy for receiving the award and I am thankful to organisers.” Sayoni Mishra, Student of Chilika Rani School, Balugaon and Komol Tiwari of Mount Littery School, Bhubaneswar were declared first and second runnersup by the jury members. They received Rs10,000 and Rs 5,000 and trophies at the event. Dhenkanal MP Tathagata Satpathy and the MLA, Bhubaneswar North, Priyadarshi Mishra were present at the award ceremony.
Satpathy congratulated the winners. He said, “The initiative to boost leadership quality among students by HVSF is hugely laudable.” About 2,000 students from 150 schools from across the state spoke on different issues at the ‘Talent Olympiad’ in the race to become ‘The second Youth Prime Minister of Orissa’. The five finalists were selected after several rounds of competitions. Mihir Patnaik, Chief Patron of HVSF said, “This is a brilliant platform to connect the youth and the parliament of one of the largest democracies across the world.”
