Rayagada: A high school in Matikana village under this block is yet again in the news for wrong reasons.
School authorities engaged school kids to carry vegetables required for preparation of mid-day meals two days back. The villagers took photographs of the incident and handed them over to the media Wednesday.
The school with a student strength of 318 between Class I and Class X is located 13 km from the district headquarters while 100 students stay in its hostel. The institute has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.
A year back, school’s headmaster Rajkishore Sahoo was removed from his post for engaging the students in transportation of rice packets. A few days into the incident, Qui language teacher Niranjan Kadraka was suspended for eloping with a student.
In the fresh incident, teacher Rabi Shankar Patnaik who was in-charge of MDM preparation is learnt to have engaged students for transportation of vegetables.
When contacted, headmaster Karunakar Mishra said he was not aware of the incident. A self help group was assigned to look after the MDM programme and teacher Rabi Patnaik was in charge to help them, Mishra added. PNN
