Bournemouth, Dec 18: Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah scored fine individual goals as Liverpool moved back into the top four of the Premier League with a ruthless 4-0 win at Bournemouth, Sunday evening.
The visitors dominated throughout the match at the Vitality Stadium and would have won by a greater margin had Coutinho not seen an 11th-minute free-kick hit the post and rebound across goal. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Ings also had their shots hitting the post for Liverpool in the second half
Coutinho gave Liverpool the lead in the 20th minute slamming through the right-hand side of Bournemouth’s defence and finding the bottom corner with a composed finish. Dejan Lovren doubled the lead with a close-range diving header six minutes later. Bournemouth had a chance to reduce the margin, but Jermain Defoe’s low strike also ricocheted off the post to safety.
Salah, who is having an incredible season, made it 3-0 just a minute before the break skipping past full-back Charlie Daniels in the right channel, and then beating goalkeeper Asmir Begovic with a neat left-footed shot. It was also his 20th goal of the season in all competitions putting him two clear of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane atop the Premier League charts on 14.
Liverpool added the fourth in the 66th minute when Coutinho crossed for fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino to seal the proceedings.
