Absconding railway officer held

Bhubaneswar: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths Friday arrested an inspector of works (Railways) who along with four others was accused of misappropriation of railway properties. The officials arrested Alok Ghose, who was at large since 2008, from DRM Chowpathy of Alipurduar in West Bengal. Ghose had been working as the Inspector of works (Grade II) in South Eastern Railway office at Bhubaneswar when the fraud took place. “The accused and others misappropriated construction items worth `27,35,518 of South Eastern Railway,” CBI sources said. The court of CBI special judge had issued a non-bailable warrant against the absconding railway officer July 15, 2008.
