Addl chief secy reviews flood situation in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Even as many parts of Bhadrak continue to reel under floods, the additional chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra reviewed the situation in Dhamnagar and Bhandaripokhari blocks Thursday.

After his visit to the flood-affected areas in Akhuapada, Kantighai, malada, Sholampur, Jajpur, Anandapur and Khadipada, Mohapatra held a review meeting at the collectorate with officials from various departments.

He directed the officials to make provision for safe drinking water for marooned people, distribute halogen tablets, water purification of tube wells, immunisation of livestock, and expedite the repair of damaged embankments, roads under the PWD, rural development department and water resources department.

Mohapatra also urged the district welfare officer to ensure that food for kids and surroundings of Anganwadi centres is hygienic.

In case of further floods in Dahamnagar and Bhandariokhari, he asked the district administration to keep more boats ready to deal with the relief and rescue operations.

Collector Gyana Ranjan Das, ADM Shyabhakt Mishra, sub-collector Narottam Behera and PD of DRDA Dillip Kumar Sahu were present at the meeting.

Reports from Aradi said floodwaters have been playing havoc in farmlands of Amrutamani, Olaga, Kulaipada, Bodak, Pahana, Muan and Aradi.

Farmers rued that due to water-logging, their crops would be damaged.  PNN
