Cuttack: The district administration has begun a probe into fraudulent deal of a costly land in Naranpur Mouza under Barang tehsil in the district.
Taking cognisance of media reports regarding a land fraud, board of revenue member Bipin Saxena directed collector Susant Mohapatra to submit detailed records regarding the land.
Subsequently, Mohapatra wrote to additional collector (revenue) Raghuram R Iyar to inquire into the matter and submit a report on the same in seven days. Besides, the vigilance directorate reportedly has taken note of the fraudulent land deal.
According to sources, the 2.48 acres of government land near Naranpur village has illegally been recorded in the name of a retired divisional forest officer (DFO). The current market price of the land is around Rs 20 crore.
After the illegal land deal came to fore, the villagers lodged complaints with the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, Vineet Saran, chief secretary, board of revenue members, revenue secretary, CBI, vigilance directorate and the district collector.
