Admin worried over fringe villages leaning towards AP

Pottangi: The district administration of Koraput and the block administration of Pottangi have drawn flak from various quarters after Andhra Pradesh held panchayat elections at Ganjeipadar, Fagunasineri and Fatusineri villages.

Amid allegations of the administrative negligence to the fringe villages and villagers leaning towards the neighbouring state, the administration is worried about it.

Another fact has come to the fore that people of Galigabada under Nuagan panchayat, eight km from the block headquarters, have exercised their franchise in panchayat election at Sariki panchayat, which is under Salur block of AP.

The administration has started investigation into the matter and came to know that Galigabad villagers had reached Sariki panchayat at night of February 12 and gave their votes to the Sariki sarpanch nominee.

The matter was alerted to the district administration by Galigabada Anganwadi worker and some officials of ICDS. The administration is now on its toes over such development.

A team of officials comprising tehsildar Haripada Mandal, IIC Bijayraj Majhi and revenue inspector Mundagadia Dambaru talked to villagers of Galigabada.

Villagers admitted that only 20 of them have participated in the AP panchayat polls in Sarki panchayat, but in fact it was leant that about 60 people of the village took part in the voting.

Former Nuagan sarpanch Sitru Pangi revealed before the officials in this regard.

Meanwhile, the AP government had engaged two volunteers to woo villagers for panchayat polls. The two – Samuru Khara and Pradip Pangi – are absconding after the administrative investigation.
