Advance grant for Aahar centres in Koraput

Koraput: The district administration is learnt have received Rs 50 lakh as an advance grant for eight months from the government to implement Aahar Yojana  in three centres of the district.

The centres would be operational at the Jeypore district headquarters hospital, sub-divisional hospital and near Sunabeda hospital from March, district collector V Jaykumar said.

While a sum of Rs 70 lakh is required to run the programme for a year, the administration has received the funds for eight months, according to reports. The beneficiaries would be provided rice and ‘dalma’ at Rs5 per meal. The centres would be spending Rs 6 lakh a month to provide meals to the needy especially to bus passengers from far-off places who visit the hospitals to attend on their relatives.

Such centres would be opened at Laxmipur and Damanjodi hospitals in the second phase if the programme proves to be successful in these three centres in the first phase, the collector said. PNN
