Agri expo to focus on modern equipment

Bhubaneswar, Dec 6: The state government is going to hold its three-day long regional Krushi Mahotsav at Berhampur from December 28.
This is the third such Mahotsav, with the first two being organised in Sambalpur and Balasore. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy said after a preparedness meet here Saturday.
“We had decided to hold three regional Krushi Mahotsavs at Sambalpur, Balasore and Berhampur from 28 to 30 of September, October and November respectively. However, we postponed the last event at Berhampur from November to December because of the Assembly session,” Maharathy said.
The Mahotsav will include an exhibition of different modern agriculture equipment and interaction with agriculture experts and farmers. Around `42 lakh has been budgeted for the function, he said. As many as  40 people from the fields of agriculture, horticulture, fishing and dairy farming will be felicitated during the function that is expected to be attended by around 8,000 farmers from 10 districts — Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada.
