BHUBANESWAR: Sagarika Mishra, a single woman, has dedicated her life for the betterment of distressed children at Adruta Children Home, which was founded by Aditya Kumar Mohanty in 1998.
The shelter home houses 90 children. These children are currently studying at Bikash Residential School, Govt High School, Mendhashal, Rama Devi University and Satyasai College. The main difference between the shelter home and others is that Adruta doesn’t accept any Government aid.
Instead, it creates sponsorship for the children. The institution believes in community involvement in raising the children. The whole village of Kantabad is very supportive of the initiative. The institution believes in creating stars out of the children as they perform under Adruta Dance group.
At least five girls from the home have been married to suitable grooms. Sagarika is also an Odissi dancer. She said, “I am staying at Adruta children’s home for the last twenty years. I nurture these children with love. My only recognition today is that I am the mother of these children who are my only family.”
Adruta Children Home (A unit of RAWA Academy) has been doing pioneering work in the field of rehabilitation of the deserted, unclaimed, parentless and destitute children since 1998. Its objectivity is not only to ensure healthy upkeep of the children but to provide proper education for their psychic nurture.
