Bhubaneswar: Chandrasekharpur police Tuesday arrested Air Odisha director Tridev Rout (38) of Kandarpur, Cuttack, for threatening her second wife Rajalaxmi Das (32) over a personal dispute.
Inspector in-charge Devi Shankar Pratap told Orissa POST that Rajalaxmi had lodged a complaint with them January 18 alleging that Tridev threatened her to withdraw a dowry case registered against him in Mahila police station here.
“Rajalaxmi, who stays in Niladri Vihar, had lodged a complaint with Mahila police against Tridev in 2015 alleging dowry torture. But he had got an anticipatory bail from Orissa High Court. Tridev then started threatening Rajalaxmi to withdraw the case against him,” Pratap said.
“We nabbed Tridev near Biju Patnaik International Airport. A case under Section 506 of IPC has been registered against him. Tridev was produced in court today after his medical examination,” he added.
Pratap further said since Mahila police have already registered a case against him under Section 498(A) of IPC, they registered a case against Tridev for intimidating his second wife.
Police said Tridev’s first wife Baisakhi Mohanty had also registered a case against him in Mahila police station here alleging dowry torture.
Interestingly, Air Odisha celebrated its first intra-state flight services from the Bhubaneswar airport Tuesday.
Chandrasekhar police reportedly picked up Tridev from near the airport after the flagging off ceremony of Air Odisha’s intra-state connectivity.
