Akshaya Mohanty biopic in pipeline

Bhubaneswar, July 22: Producer Mushtaq Nadiadwala, of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, is expected to come out with an Oriya biopic on singer Akshaya Mohanty. The film titled ‘He Phaguna Tume’ will track the personal and professional journey of Mohanty. Mushtaq has been reported to have sought permission from Akshaya Mohanty Trust and the late singer’s family in Cuttack for production of the film. ‘He Phaguna Tume’ is being scripted by poet Nikunja K Sundaray and its dialogues are to be written by Devdas Chhotray. The film will feature eight songs, all of which have been written and composed by Akshaya Mohanty himself. It is expected to hit screens this year. Singer Nazia Alam said she was delighted by the news just as the many fans of Akshaya Mohanty’s music and songs. “It calls for a celebration. Akshaya Mohanty is a legend in the Oriya film industry; a film on him is a matter of pride for the state,” she said. She, however, also had a word of caution for the makers of
the film. “Making a biopic about such a legend is a challenge. The film must be based on deep research and requires commitment. His life journey must be projected in proper way as he is a treasure of the state,” she said. Singer Achyut Mishra said the initiative “will help the young and upcoming generations learn about the legendary singer”. “The effort will surely preserve immortalise his works,” he said Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment is known for producing superhit movies such as ‘Jeet’, ‘Judwa’, ‘2 States’, ‘Houseful’ series, ‘Phantom’ and ‘Rangoon’. Akshaya Mohanty fans such as Surjeet Samal are confident that the team will produce a good movie that will do justice to the memory of the singer. He added that fans of the singer will be thankful to the makers of the film for the project
