Shahjahanpur: In a shocking incident, an angry alcoholic man reportedly shoot his wife to death after she refused to cook egg curry for him at Devdas village under Shahjahanpur of Uttar Pradesh.
The victim was identified as Mangesh Shukla (30), wife of the accused Navneet Shukla (33). Sources said, the victim refused to cook non-veg as it was a Thursday.
In a fit of rage, Navneet then took out his father’s licenced gun and shot her dead. A case of murder was registered based on a complaint by the victim’s brother and the accused was arrested Friday. He was then produced in court and later remanded in Shahjahanpur district jail after the court rejected his bail plea.
Navneet, a farmer was married to Magnesh, 12 years ago and were parents to three children. His children had gone to school while his elderly parents had gone to see a doctor when the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, Navneet returned home in a drunken state and demanded egg curry for lunch. However, Magnesh turned down his demand as it was a Thursday, leading to an altercation between the couple.
First, Navneet walked out of the house, only to return few minutes later. He then took out his father’s pistol and shot Magnesh in the back and fled.
On hearing the gunfire sound, locals rushed to the house and found Magnesh on the floor, injured. She breathed her last before she could be brought to hospital.
After getting information, police officials arrived at the village and launched a probe. The murder weapon was also seized from the spot. Later, a police team intercepted Navneet and arrested him who claimed of being in an inebriated state and expressed remorse for his crime.
