Alcoholic man’s push proves fatal for wife, arrested

Talcher: Police Tuesday arrested a man for killing his wife in Balanda Gurudwara area here in Angul district.

The deceased has been identified as 35-years-old Geeta Champia and the accused husband as Muna Champia.

According to locals, the couple often had altercations owing to Muna’s alcohol addiction. Monday night he came home in an inebriated state and the couple once again had a verbal duel. At one point Muna lost his cool and started beating up Geeta. In the process, he pushed her that resulted in Geeta’s head hitting the brick wall leading to heavy bleeding.

Instead of checking on her, Muna went out of the house leaving her on the ground in an unconsciousness state. Later she died of excessive bleeding, locals said.

Bikrampur police reached the spot after neighbours informed them of the incident Tuesday morning and recovered the body for post-mortem. Registering a murder case, police have arrested Muna and investigating further into the incident.
