post news network, Bhubaneswar, June 21: A solo painting exhibition, ‘Kruti’, by Tanima Parida received huge appreciation from the visitors at the Lalit kala Akademi here. The three-day exhibition-cum-sale has 32 acrylic paintings of the artist on display. The show will end Monday.
Her paintings have different themes. She uses oil and water colours, pencils and wash painting to draw her pictures.
For the last 10 years she has been working in her studio consistently to give her imagination wings. She, however, has also been training under Mahendra Prasad Mohapatra, a professional painter, to sharpen her skills.
“I have never had any formal training; I had this interest, so I used to make paintings without any proper knowledge. Whatever I felt, I used to express on canvas. Then, I started to learn from Mahendraji. I mostly love to make landscapes,” she said.
Most of the paintings exhibited on the occasion are landscapes, depicting the beauty of the nature, through elegant brush strokes, sharp lines and innovative use of colours and patterns. “I make landscape paintings for ordinary people, who love simple things and avoid complicated things such as abstract paintings,” she said.
Speaking about her love for colours she said, “The world of colours is different; it gives you a different experience. While painting I feel like I have reached another world. The colours, the canvas and the brush strokes help me get rid of my worries and make me stress free.”
Tanima, who has till date, mostly exhibited her works in the city, is planning to tour other cities and states with her paintings. “I have mainly exhibited my works in the city, but I am planning to exhibit some of my works in other states, so that I am able to know the response of the people of other states too. For an artist, the opinion of the people is very important as it helps him/her to grow and correct the flaws,” she said.
