Ambulance torched during Utkal protest

Bhubaneswar: The protests by the students of Utkal University (UU) Friday turned violent when the agitating youths set an ambulance outside the vice chancellor’s office on fire and ransacked several properties there.
A group of students has been protesting against the Higher Education department’s decision to open the second campus of Rama Devi Women’s University on Utkal University premises here.
Earlier, the agitators had submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir and Higher Education secretary GVV Sharma Thursday. However, the protesters reportedly belonging to the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Thursday went berserk and torched the ambulance. The ambulance was partially damaged.
