Amit Shah to visit state today

Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah will arrive here on a one-day visit Sunday. Shah would a hold series of meetings with various wings and leaders of the party here.
Briefing media persons about Shah’s visit, state BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty said Shah would arrive here at the airport at around 10 am, where he would be received and felicitated by BJP leaders.
After that, Shah would reach the party office and hold three important meetings with party leaders, he added. Then he would visit the Exhibition Ground here and meet panchayat representatives of 21 Assembly constituencies under three parliamentary segments—Bhubaneswar, Puri and Cuttack.
Pointing out that Shah’s visit would focus on “three sectors,” Union Minister Jual Oram said the stress would be on strengthening party’s base and successful implementation of Central schemes in the state. Most importantly, Shah would look into the steps taken to highlight the failures of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government in the state, he added.
According to sources, Shah would review BJP’s party affairs in the state as he has already charted out his party’s Mission-120 for the 2019 general polls.
He would review the status of assignments which he had given to various wings of the state BJP and provide some strategic advice to the elected representatives of panchayats.
Besides, the BJP president is likely to kick-start the process of finalisation of candidates for the 2019 polls, the sources added. Shah would travel back to Delhi Monday early morning.
Notably, the visit would be Shah’s second to the state in the past two months. He sounded the poll bugle in the state during his visit this April. Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been touring Odisha at regular intervals.
