Ananya, Asif emerge champions

Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: Ananya Basak of Khurda and Asif Haque of Reserve Bank emerged champions in the Transports Ist RN Singh Deo Memorial All Orissa State Ranking Table Tennis Championship beating Pousali Ghatak of Accounts General and Tausif Haque of East Coast Railway 4-3 and 4-0 respectively at MB Dharmashala in Bolangir, Saturday. The tournament was organised by Balangir District Table Tennis Association.
Transport and commerce minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi gave away the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony. Among others, Bolangir District Table Tennis Association secretary Sumit Purohit, vice president Deepak Purohit, Lotus Sadangi, joint secretary Tikdal Majhi, Swagatika Mishra, Amit Sahani were present.

Huge win for Orissa
Orissa scripted a facile win of 149 runs against hapless Tripura in a match of the BCCI U-19 Women’s Inter-State East Zone ODI League at Dhanbad, Saturday.
Opting to bat first, Orissa scored a challenging total of 222 runs in the stipulated 50 overs for the loss of six wickets. Anjali Singh (60, 114b, 5×4), Sushree Pradhan (58, 78b, 5×4) hit brilliant half centuries.
In reply, Tripura were never on the chase and were bundled out for a paltry 73 runs in 34.2 overs. All rounder-Sushree (3/5) was the pick of the Orissa bowlers.
