Pottangi: Polling for Andhra Pradesh’s Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad elections in Kotia panchayat, Koraput district, has been rescheduled from 3 to 5 November, with vote counting moved from 5 to 7 November.

According to a notification issued by Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha, the revised schedule was announced through letter No. 905/ SEC-B1/2026.

The change was made because counting for the municipal elections is scheduled for November 3, making it difficult to conduct the rural local body polls simultaneously.

Two candidates from Kotia panchayat are contesting the elections. Chiranjeevi Tadangi, from Uparasembi village, is representing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), while Kan Puri Majhi, from Neridibalsa village, is contesting on behalf of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

Nominations for the elections were filed between 21 and 23 October.

The developments have drawn attention in the border region, where Kotia remains an area of political and administrative significance for Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
