Angul rape, murder: Accused Anam’s blood-stained clothes, slippers seized

Angul:  A day after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped before being murdered in the most brutal manner under Sadar police limits in Angul district, police swung into action and retrieved the accused person’s pant, shirt and slippers from an isolated field near the village, Monday.

 

Angul IIC Ramesh Chandra Bisoyi along with another police official Deepika Rai and a forensic team are conducting the probe. All major check points have been sealed to prevent the accused from fleeing. DIG Narsingh Bhol (North Central) and Angul SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra also visited the village Sunday and took stock of the situation

 

The accused has been as Anam Dehuri of Godisahi who is absconding since the incident. “All checkpoints have been sealed and efforts are on to nab Dehuri. We will arrest him soon,” the SP said.

 

According to reports, the incident occurred while the victim, a student of Class VIII, had gone to her father’s grocery shop carrying lunch around 3pm. Family members grew apprehensive when the girl did not reach the shop. A frantic search failed to reveal the location of the girl.

 

Later, some villagers noticed the mutilated and disrobed body of the girl lying inside a bush at a temple and informed the relatives. The shocked family members and were stunned by the gruesome way in which the girl had been murdered with stones.

 

On being informed, the police reached the spot and recovered the body before starting an investigation. A bowl, bag, tiffin box, a pair of girl’s chappals and a piece of men’s chappal and two blood stained stones were seized from the spot after sniffer dogs were pressed into service.

 

The incident comes within weeks of rape and subsequent pregnancy of four minor girls in Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Kandhamal districts.
