Bhubaneswar, Sept 25: Another dengue patient from Kendrapara district died in a private hospital here Friday.
However, the state health department has not confirmed the death so far. “We haven’t received any such report till now. We will examine the case and update the data as soon as possible,” said director public health Kailash Dash.
The victim has been identified as Smruti Ranjan Lenka (28), son of Halvildar Pratap Lenka of Adampur Belana of Kendrapara district. He has been working in New Delhi where he reportedly contracted the deadly ailment.
“Lenka, after being diagnosed dengue positive, has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital September 11. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital here and was on treatment. He has been declared dead by the doctors Friday,” said a source.
Sunil Behera (18) of Mangalpur in Rajkanika block of the same district died of dengue September 16 at a hospital in Delhi.
Abhinas Rout (7) of Gopinathpur in Derabish block died August 8 taking the dengue toll in the district to three this season. Rout died because of lack of proper medical attention as he was denied admission to a private hospital in Delhi.
State health department officials are firm in their claim that only one person from Balasore had died of dengue this year.
