Balasore: Sahadebakhunta police Friday arrested Abhimanyu Mohapatra, another director of ponzi firm Anwesha in India Limited, which has allegedly swindled over Rs 10 crore from depositors in various parts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj and neighbouring West Bengal. Mohapatra is a resident of Sanbishal under Kaptipada police limits in Mayurbhanj district. Police have also seized a Honda car from him. He said that the company had given him the car as a gift for his performance. Earlier, police had arrested the company’s another director Krushna Chandra Sahu, a resident of Sanbelakhunti in Mayurbhanj and its branch manager Pranay Kumar Behera hailing from Nuasahi under Sahadevkhunta police station. Police had seized a Tata Indigo car and a bike from them. The chit fund firm in 2010 had opened its office at Station Square in Balasore and used to collect deposits offering higher interest rate ranging from 12 to 30 per cent per annum from scores of people. However, the company did a vanishing act in 2013, leaving the investors in the lurch. An investor identified as Jagannath Behera of Sheikh Patana in Balasore had lodged a complaint with the police against the company, alleging the latter had duped him of Rs 10 lakh in the form of deposits. Police had registered a case in this connection. PNN
