Another minor girl goes missing in Nayagarh; repeat of Pari case feared

Ranpur: At a time when the Pari death case is still hugging headlines, Nayagarh district has reported yet another minor girl missing.

The girl went missing Friday and is still untraced, according to her family members.

The missing girl has been identified as the daughter of Sanjay Sahu of Budhipatna village under Ranpur police limits.

According to the family, the minor girl was playing in the village Friday. It was when she did not return until late, the family members launched a frantic search for her. Not finding her despite searching at every possible place, they eventually lodged a missing report at Rajsunakhala Police Outpost.

The police have launched an investigation, taking the case seriously which is par for the course.

Notably, the Pari death case created ripples in the state after the harassed and distressed parents of the victim attempted self immolation in front of the Odisha Legislative Assembly November 24 when the Winter Session was underway.

The five-year-old girl went missing from her house at Jadupur under Sadar police limits in Nayagarh district June 14. Her body was recovered from a spot only 50 metres away from the place where she went missing June 23.

Meanwhile, Nayagarh Sadar police station IIC Rinarani Sahoo was suspended and sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Niranjan Padhi was transferred. The case is being probed by the SIT formed by the state government.
