Bhubaneswar, August 26: Road transport officials will soon launch a mobile enforcement app to check traffic violations in Bhubaneswar.
RTO II in-charge Sanjay Behera told reporters photographs or visuals of traffic rule flouters can be sent through the mobile enforcement app.
“After downloading the mobile enforcement app anyone can send the pictures or visuals of vehicles parked on the road, or a driver talking on phone while driving or riding a two-wheeler. Once we receive the visuals we will issue fines against such traffic violators,” he added.
RTO officials said the transport department had formed a committee to discuss ways to curb such traffic violations.
“The committee is of the view that a mobile enforcement app should be launched to check parking of vehicles on the prohibited zones, and use of mobile phones by the drivers while driving,” they added.
On being asked about movement of overloaded hyva trucks in the city, Behera said he will discuss the matter with traffic ACP Jatin Kumar Panda before contemplating action in this regard. Police sources said hyva trucks carrying goods more than the permitted limit often spill dirty water on the road while commuting.
