Balasore, May 24: The wife of an Armyman accused senior officials of having punished her husband out of grudge. This was stated by Subhashree Poi of Sarsankh under Soro police limits before media persons here Saturday.
She said that her husband Gajanan Poi works as an auto tracker at Chandipur-based ESE station workshop. He was being sent on temporary duty at different places frequently. In March, when she and her 3-year old daughter were afflicted with measles, her husband was at Gopalpur on temporary duty.
Though he had applied for leave, he was denied it. Later, Gajanan reported the matter to the higher authorities at Jabalpur. Following instruction from higher-ups, ESE authorities had no way but to grant his leave but he was charged with a false case of misbehaviour when he returned from home, Subhashree alleged a junior commanding officer April 4 slapped a notice on him, on the ground that Gajanan had misbehaved with him. After this incident, her husband is mentally
agonized.
April 7, when she went her husband’s office to know about the matter, Army officials abused her and showed inappropriate behaviour towards her, Subhashree claimed. Later she lodged a complaint with police April 8. Police have registered a case. On the other hand, ESE authorities allegedly pressurized her to withdraw the case. She also intimated the matter to the district SP and ASP. Her husband had been in 14-day custody for his misbehaviour towards a senior officer. ASP SK Nayak that ESE has taken action as per defence rules and the state police is helpless to do anything in this matter.
