Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: Ashirwad Swain of Nayagarh emerged champion of the Kendrapara Open Chess Championship, which concluded at Kendrapara Autonomous College in Kendrapara, Sunday.
Ashirwad garnered a total of seven points to take the top honours. Subhasis Barik of Khurda and BB Das of Puri both bagged 6.5 points each but Subhasis finished runners-up on the basis of tie-breaker, while Das secured the third position. Joining as chief guest, Kendrapara MLA Kishore Tarai distributed the prizes.
