ASI team begins inspection of Srimandir

Puri: Two days after Lord Jagannath and his siblings left for the nine-day visit to Gundicha temple, a team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Monday began inspection of the 12th century shrine.
The temple’s sanctum sanctorum Jagamohan, Nata Mandap and Bhoga Mandap will be inspected during the period.
Engineer Dharmaprasad Mishra, a member of the inspecting team, said they will examine the first and second floor besides the sanctum sanctorum and other structures.
Members of the state government’s conservation committee have also participated in the inspection works of the temple.
The repair work inside the temple is expected to be completed by July 23.
An expert team of the central building research institute (CBRI) from Roorkee will monitor the repair work and inspect the sanctum sanctorum.
It may be worth mentioning here that the ASI has already carried out repair works at the sanctum sanctorum.
