Bhubaneswar, August 13: Asutosh Padhy beat Sahil Arora in the final to emerge champion of the 22nd Orissa Junior Billiards State Championships at Vintage Club here Thursday.
Asutosh beat Sahil 232-112 in a lop-sided encounter. Asutosh who is currently pursuing his academic career in Mumbai flew down to play in this particular tournament. He won all his matches with ease and had a couple of 70-plus breaks in the tournament. None of the players were able to provide him with any challenge.
Team selected
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) selected a 15-member team for the All India Buchi Babu Invitational cricket tournament at Chennai, starting August 16. The team was selected by the OCA selection committee in a meeting at Cuttack, Thursday. Biplab Samantray will lead the team, while Govind Podder has been named his deputy.
The squad: Natraj Behera, Girija Rout, Rajesh Dhuper, Shesdeep Patra, Biplab Samantray, Govind Podder, Anurag Sarangi, Pratik Das, P Roshan Kumar Rao, Basant Mohanty, Suryakanta Pradhan, Asutosh Das, Alok Chandra Sahoo, Jayant Behera and Aravind Singh.
