Athletes call for plastic-free Odisha

Puri: Athletes of Jhadeshwari Club and Puri Sports Hostel Wednesday supported the anti-plastic campaign launched by Orissa POST and Dharitri.

The athletes along with their coaches took a pledge against the use of plastic and polythene while observing the National Sports Day.

Hundreds of athletes of Jhadeshwari Club took out a cycle rally to the Lions’ Gate of Srimandir to create awareness against plastic. Sub-collector Bhabataran Sahu flagged off the rally that passed through Badasankha, Srigundicha temple and the Grand Road to reach Srimandir.

“Plastic and polythene have become a major threat to environment. Proper awareness among people only can defeat the menace,” said the sub-collector.
