Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: Private sector lender Axis bank eyes to achieve a total business of Rs 6,000 crore by the end of this fiscal on the back of expanding its presence in the state, a top official of the bank said. “We are hopeful to garner a total business of Rs 6,000 crore by the end of this fiscal through branch expansion,” Regional Branch Banking Head (East) of Axis Bank, Sunil Gurbaxani told Orissa POST.
Elaborating on the business of the bank, Gurbaxani said the total business of the bank as on date stands at Rs 4,500 crore, which is likely to reach Rs 6,000 crore as branch strength increased to 125 from the current count of 117. “Out of our total number of branches, 35 are in unbanked Gram Panchayats. We are planning to open another 8 branches out of which 2 will be opened in unbanked Gram Panchayats,” he added.
On its plan to expand the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in the state, the official said the bank plans to increase its ATM count to 500 from current number of 450 by this fiscal. “As on September this fiscal, we have opened about 25,749 accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) out of which 9,703 are from rural areas and rest from urban pockets,” the official said adding that out of the total number of accounts about 10,172 accounts are no-frill accounts. He also said about Rs 3 crore is parked other than the zero accounts.
