Bhubaneswar: Odisha government Tuesday appointed advocate Biraja Shankar Mishra as a member of the state human rights commission, an official notification said.
The appointment will be effective from the date on which Mishra assumes office, it said.
The rights panel was being run by chairperson Justice Satrughana Pujahari, with Chitta Ranjan Mohapatra as its lone member.
According to OHRC’s official website, as many as 6,240 cases were under consideration of the commission, while 71 cases were disposed of in August. In 2026, the OHRC received 3,407 cases.
