Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Thursday sanctioned Rs 2.49 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the reconstruction of Bahanaga High School in Balasore district.

Chief Minister’s office sources here said the Bahanaga High School will be reconstructed under 5T initiatives.

Patnaik had ordered the inclusion of the High School under the 5T initiative to encourage the noble participation of local people and the teachers of the school in rescue and relief work in aftermath of the horrific railway accident at Bahanaga Bazar station June 2.

As many as 292 passengers were killed and more than one thousand got injured in the accident. Some of the rooms of the school were used as a temporary mortuary and several bodies were kept in the school.

On the direction of the Chief Minister, 5T Secretary VK Pandian held a detailed discussion with the students, teachers, people‘s representatives, School Managing Committee and the District Collector in this regard.
