Jeypore: The Indian Postal department Saturday launched the Indian Post Payments Bank at the Sandhya Function Hall here in Koraput district.
Attending the programme as the chief guest, MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati said the postal department had played a significant role during the freedom struggle. The facility would immensely help traders and farmers. However, there is a need to highlight the benefits of the service in rural region, he added.
Former MP Jairam Pangi, Padmashiri Gobardharn Panika and senior officials of the postal department were present on the occasion. The facility has been offered in the district for the first time, it was learnt.
