Bannur fifer restricts Orissa batsmen

Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: Visitors Orissa were in dire straits losing six wickets for only 204 runs in their under-19 Cooch Behar trophy match against hosts Karnataka at Hubli, Saturday. Biswajit Bhuyan (60 batting, 230b, 6×4) was the only batsman to defy the Karnataka bowlers.
Sandeep Patnaik (37), Subhransu Senapati (45) and Subrat Samal all got starts but failed to consolidate. Likhit M Bannur (5/76) was the most successful bowler for Karnataka.
Brief scores: Orissa 204/6 (Biswajit Bhuyan 60, Subhransu Senapati 45; Likhit M Bannur 5/76). Match to continue.
Skating tourney
The Orissa State Open Roller Skating Championships will begin November 22 at the Kalinga Stadium, here. Organised by the Orissa Skating Academy, the sport will attract skaters from various district schools, colleges and skating organisations and institutions between 4-16 years.

The Orissa State Sepak Takraw Association announced the girls’ and boys’ squad for the 19th Junior National Sepak Takraw Championships which the city will host December 3 to 6.

The OCA announced Friday a 16-member squad for the Senior Women’s One-Day Group-A League beginning November 15 at Rajkot.
The squad: Madhusmita Behera (C), Kadambini Mahakud (WK), Madhuri Mehta, Sarita Meher, Swagatika Rath, Pragyan Paramita Mohanty, Sushree Pradhan, Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahu, Sujata Mallick, Ritu Singh, BM Swaha Nayak, Banalata Mallick, Rajashree Swain, Bandana Priyadarshini Hanuman, Suvalaxmi Rout and Chinmayee Das.
Nishikant shines
Capital Law College, Bhubaneswar entered the semifinals of the Utkal University organised Inter-College cricket tournament defeating UN College, Adaspur by one wicket in a match played here Saturday. They will face DR College, Bhubaneswar for a place in final.
Batting first, UN College scored 181 all out with Abinash Nayak 82 (108b, 6×4) emerging the highest scorer. Jagdeep Mohanty and Nishikant Mohapatra bowled well for Law College bagging three wickets each. Capital Law College however, achieved the victory target of 182 for the loss of nine wickets. Nishikant 42 (49b, 4×4) and Santosh Pradhan 34 (34b, 3×4, 2×6) batted well for the victors.
