Bar association elections: CM highlights role of lawyers in delivering justice

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Sunday extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected members of various Bar Associations across the state following the elections conducted by Odisha State Bar Council (OSBC).

In a message, the CM conveyed his best wishes to all those who emerged victorious, highlighting the crucial role played by the legal fraternity in strengthening the democratic framework.

Majhi stated that the judiciary remains one of the most important pillars of democracy, and lawyers act as the primary drivers in ensuring justice reaches the common people.

He expressed confidence that the newly elected representatives would work with integrity and commitment for the advancement of the legal community.

“Under your leadership, the progress of the legal fraternity will be further strengthened, and efforts will continue to deliver justice to the common people,” the CM said.

He also emphasised that a strong and responsible Bar plays a vital role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring fair access to justice.

Majhi hoped that the elected members would collaborate effectively and contribute positively to the state’s judicial ecosystem.

The elections, conducted under the supervision of the OSBC, saw participation from lawyers across multiple districts, with newly elected office-bearers expected to assume responsibilities in the coming days.

Elections to the Bhubaneswar Bar Association (BBA) for 2026–27 term concluded Saturday, with Ashok Kumar Chhotray elected president and Suman Routray as secretary.

Susanta Dash was elected vice-president, Hiten Nayak as treasurer, while Sangeeta Pattnaik and Jyotirmayee Panda were elected joint secretary and assistant secretary, respectively.
