Bhubaneswar: Bar Association elections are being held across Odisha Saturday in 155 affiliated associations, with polling scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The final electoral roll, prepared and published by the Odisha State Bar Council, has been circulated to all bar associations. Authorities have directed that the entire polling process be videographed and a copy submitted to the council.
Voting began in the morning and has been proceeding smoothly, with lawyers saying adequate arrangements have been made to ensure a disruption-free process.
Elections in all affiliated bar associations have been conducted under the “one bar, one vote” system since 2019.
At the Cuttack High Court Bar Association, 26 candidates are contesting for various posts, and polling has remained peaceful.
Counting of votes will begin in the afternoon, and results are expected by evening, said High Court election officer Saroj Das.
Elections have been postponed in Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, and Jatni lawyers’ associations due to various reasons, Odisha State Bar Council observer Dinesh Ray said.
